Day 1 (Door to Door)

Arrive Las Vegas

Enjoy your luxury private car door to door transfer to your departure airport before your scheduled flight to Las Vegas, where a transfer is provided to your first hotel. Day 2

Las Vegas - Zion National Park - Bryce Canyon National Park

This morning's journey takes us through St. George before reaching spectacular Zion National Park. See the massive and colourful rock formations of Zion Canyon ascending towards the blue sky. Next we continue to Bryce Canyon National Park, where sandstone spires reflect colourful hues from every vista point. Here we visit the amphitheatre of "hoodoos," the odd shaped stone monoliths. Day 3

Bryce Canyon - Salt Lake City

We're off to Salt Lake City, headquarters of the Mormon religion. Here our sightseeing tour includes Assembly Hall and the Tabernacle, home of the famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Site of the 2002 Winter Olympic Games, Salt Lake City is both a monument to Western history and a thriving modern city. (FB)

Day 4

Salt Lake City - Jackson

We start the day travelling north along the edge of the Great Salt Lake and across the Oregon Trail en route to Jackson for the night. On arrival enjoy time to wander through this authentic old-western town. (FB, HD)

Day 5

Jackson - Grand Teton National Park - Yellowstone National Park

Today we travel through scenic Grand Teton National Park, past sparkling Jenny Lake, on our way to Yellowstone National Park, an amazing geothermal wonderland. Home to an astounding array of elk and distinctive bears, Yellowstone also has one of the few large herds of buffalo still in existence. We stay inside Yellowstone for two nights, with plenty of time to enjoy the spectacular surroundings. When the South Entrance is closed due to weather conditions, the tour will travel west from Jackson via Idaho and enter Yellowstone National Park through the West Entrance. (FB, D)

Yellowstone National Park sightseeing

Enjoy a full day tour of Yellowstone National Park. Highlights include the world's most extraordinary collection of geysers, hot springs and bubbling mud pools, the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River with its thundering waterfalls, Yellowstone Lake, endless forests, and the famous Old Faithful Geyser which erupts almost every hour. Day 7

Yellowstone - Cody - Billings

We head to Cody, named after its most famous resident, Buffalo Bill Cody. Here we learn about his adventures during a visit to the Buffalo Bill Historical Center. Then we journey on to the historic cattle town of Billings, Montana. (FB, D)

Day 8

Billings - Deadwood - Rapid City

We travel to Little Bighorn National Monument, site of the infamous Custer's Last Stand. Our next stop is in Deadwood where we join a private tour by tram and learn about legends of the Wild West. We then make our way to Rapid City. (FB)

Day 9

Black Hills excursion

Today we travel through the scenic Black Hills. We learn the story behind Mount Rushmore before viewing this incredible sculpture depicting four great American Presidents. We then stop at the Crazy Horse Memorial honouring all Native Americans. This evening is at leisure. (FB)

Day 10

Rapid City - Denver

Our day begins with a drive through the Black Hills National Forest where Ponderosa pines, spruce and aspen forests provide a home for a variety of wildlife. We continue on through the National Grassland prairies of South Dakota and Wyoming en route to Colorado's capital city, Denver, also known as the Mile-High City. (FB, D)

Day 11

Denver - Vail - Arches National Park - Moab

We drive into the Rocky Mountains and stop at the famous resort of Vail where there is time for a short stroll through this quaint village. Following the Colorado River, we travel through the spectacular scenery of the Rockies and arrive in Utah. Here we explore the amazing wonderland of Arches National Park where natural stone arches and balancing rock formations are scattered all around you. Then on to Moab for our overnight stay. (FB)

Day 12

Moab - Mesa Verde National Park - Kayenta

We visit Mesa Verde National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and learn about the Native American tribes who lived in the canyons' amazing cliff dwellings. From here our journey continues to Kayenta on the Navajo Indian Reservation for our overnight stay. (FB, D)

Day 13

Kayenta - Monument Valley - Grand Canyon National Park

We join a local guide and explore the giant monoliths of Monument Valley aboard open-air vehicles. We then continue to the magnificent Grand Canyon for our overnight stay. There is plenty of time to explore this natural wonder, stroll the rim or maybe venture down the Bright Angel Trail. (FB, FD)

Dining Highlights: This evening we enjoy a Farewell Dinner followed by a walk along the rim at sunset.

Day 14

Grand Canyon - Las Vegas

This morning is at leisure for optional flightseeing tours over the Grand Canyon before we drive along parts of the famous Route 66 as we head back towards Las Vegas for a leisurely two-night independent conclusion to your tour, exclusive to Milestones customers. (FB)

Las Vegas at leisure

Depart Las Vegas

Jackson - Snake River Float Trip through Grand Teton National Park

This gentle 10-mile float trip runs entirely within Grand Teton National Park, and covers the most scenic stretch of the Snake River within the entire Jackson Hole Valley. The Snake River is a lifeline to bison, elk, moose, beaver, pronghorn, deer, bear, and 300 different species of birds, including osprey and eagles. It offers lush willows to feed on, deep-water pools to swim in and groves of aspen to wander through. To be on the river is to see, hear, feel and smell wilderness in a way the park's casual visitor never can. Your experienced guide offers in-depth information on the geology of the Grand Tetons and the habitats of the animals you may see. Grand Teton National Park is home to the greatest variety of wildlife in the 48 contiguous states. Rapid City - Bear Country USA, Keystone Shopping & Evening Lighting

Our first stop is Bear Country USA, a wildlife park featuring the world's largest private collection of American Black Bear. Enjoy the leisurely 3-mile drive through this spectacular and unique wildlife park nestled on 250 acres. Then, there is time to walk-through the Wildlife Center where young and smaller animals frolic in their outdoor exhibits. We then continue to the quaint Black Hills town of Keystone where you'll have time for shopping and dinner (own expense) - please note that dinner may be at Mount Rushmore due to seasonal sunset time. We then go to Mt. Rushmore to see the Mount Rushmore Lighting Ceremony. The 30-minute program consists of a short ranger talk, a film about the four presidents on the mountain, the playing of the National Anthem and the lighting of this great sculpture. Adult: $46.00

Las Vegas - Hoover Dam Excursion

Hoover Dam is one of the most famous examples of man's ability to harness nature for the benefit of providing electricity and water to one of the hottest driest places in the United States. Relax in a modern motorcoach through Boulder City and Lake Mead for a 2 hour stay at Hoover Dam. You will have access to the Visitor's Center, exhibit area, museum and movie room. Then take a 70-second elevator ride 530 feet down through the rock wall of Black Canyon to begin a 35- minute guided tour. You'll exit the elevator into a tunnel drilled in the 1930s for construction, and take a short walk to the Penstock Viewing Platform. This location is atop one (of four) of the huge 30-footdiameter pipes that can transport nearly 90,000 gallons of water each second from Lake Mead to the dam's hydroelectric generators. A quick elevator ride up to the Nevada powerplant balcony takes you to a panoramic view of the 650-foot-long Nevada wing of the powerplant and eight of the dam's 17 huge generators. A great spot for pictures! Adult: $50.00
