Day 1 (Door to Door)

Enjoy your private car door to door transfer to your departure airport before your flight to Warsaw and your transfer to the first hotel. Relax and settle in before joining your fellow guests and Tour Director for a Welcome Drink, followed by time to relax and explore.

Day 2

Warsaw sightseeing

Our guided tour of the Polish capital reveals just how well the city was restored after almost complete obliteration during WorldWar II, largely due to the amazing detail in Canaletto's paintings!We pass the 'wedding cake' Palace of Culture and stroll through Lazienki Park to the Chopin Memorial. Then take some time to reflect at the Memorial of the Heroes of the Warsaw Ghetto. We then walk to the Market Square in the Old Town to watch a fascinating film about the reconstruction of the city. The rest of the day is at leisure. (BB)

Day 3

Warsaw - Vilnius (2)

We pass lakeside Augustow and Suwalki on a scenic drive through Mazuria, a region richly endowed with a plethora of lakes and vast forests. We then cross into Lithuania and continue to the capital city of Vilnius. (BB, D)

Day 4

Vilnius sightseeing

Our sightseeing starts in the baroque church of St Peter and St Paul before we move on to see the neo-classical cathedral and then join a local guide for a leisurely walking tour of the Old Town. We see the Jesuit University, the Gates of Dawn and the former Soviet KGB headquarters, a reminder of grim and relatively recent events. Finally we enjoy a highlight visit to the island castle of Trakai. (BB)

Day 5

Vilnius - Siauliai - Riga

We head north to visit the unusual 'Votive Hill of Crosses' near Siauliai, the symbol of resistance against the Soviet occupation. Then it's on to the Latvian capital of Riga. (BB, D)

Day 6

Riga - Tallinn (2)

Our tour of Riga's Old Town includes a visit to the Domkirk and shows us the city walls. We also see the House of the Three Brothers as well as the Swedish Gate and the castle of the Livonian Knights. We then drive along the shores of the Gulf of Riga and cross the Estonian border to reach Tallinn, hailed by travel aficionados as the 'New Prague'. For your dining pleasure this evening, you are invited to choose from a selection of local restaurants. (BB)

Day 7

Tallinn sightseeing

Drift back through 800 years of history as we amble through the cobbled streets of the Old Town. We visit the market square with its old German Weighing House, Pharmacy and Town Hall. The energetic can walk up Toompea Hill to the castle and Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. Then we enjoy some time to browse Tallinn's shops which are famous for fine amber and silver jewellery. (BB)

Day 8

Tallinn - Narva - St Petersburg (3)

Today we head east to the town of Narva, dominated by the mighty Hermannsburg fortress. The river Narva at this point forms the border with Russia, which you cross on your way to St Petersburg, founded by Peter the Great in 1703. We enjoy a champagne dinner in the evening. (BB, D)

Day 9

St Petersburg sightseeing

Our sightseeing tour shows us the fortress of St Peter and Paul, the gilded dome of St Isaac's Cathedral and the cruiser, 'Aurora', now a memorial of the Russian Revolution. We drive down St. Petersburg's main avenue, Nevsky Prospekt, for views of the great Cathedral of Kazan, then tour the Hermitage, one of the world's greatest museums, housing a superb collection of priceless art. (BB)

Day 10

St Petersburg

Today we visit the fabulous gardens and fountains of Peter the Great's summer residence at Petrodvorets. Back in St Petersburg this afternoon there's time to shop along the bustling Nevsky Prospekt. (BB)

Day 11

St Petersburg - Moscow (3)

A city of incomparable architectural, historic and artistic interest, St Petersburg is all yours this morning to enjoy as you wish. This afternoon, discover the unique adventure of train travel 'soviet style' as we head for the capital. We transfer to our hotel for dinner and a leisurely three night stay. (BB, D)

Day 12

Moscow sightseeing

Moscow is a city which has captivated the imagination of travellers for centuries. Our sightseeing tour takes in Red Square, seeing St Basil's Cathedral and Lenin's Tomb. We walk inside the walls of the Kremlin Fortress to visit one of the cathedrals before exploring the opulent Metro stations. The rest of the day is at leisure. (BB)

Day 13

Moscow at leisure

A full day has been set aside to explore Moscow at leisure. Perhaps visit the Gum department store or the Kremlin museum to gaze at the treasury of the Czars. This evening enjoy good food, good wine and good company at an endof- tour Farewell Dinner in a Russian restaurant. (BB, FD)

Day 14 (Door to Door)

Depart Moscow

Our tour comes to an end this morning. Airport transfers are available toMoscow International Airport for your return flight back to the UK. On arrival at your UK airport, your driver will greet you and escort you to your waiting private car for your door to door transfer to your home. (BB)

Chopin Concert

An afternoon concert performed especially for us in one of Warsaw's Palaces. We will hear the composer's major works and enjoy a glass of champagne during the interval. EURO 42

Vilanov Palaca and Gardens

A guided visit to the 17th century baroque summer residence of the Polish King John III Sobieski. Its collection of royal furniture, portraits and china forms part of the National Museum, and in the palace grounds, there's the museum of the Polish Poster. EURO 31

Moscow by Night

A tour of this bustling city by night with an opportunity to admire the evening magic of the famous Red Square and the Kremlin as well as many other sights. EURO 26

Imperial Splendour

A visit to the treasure chest of the Imperial Russian Family to see their crown jewels, jewel-studded thrones and costumes as well as the famous Faberge Egg collection. EURO 40

Zagorsk

Our excursion takes us to Zagorsk renowned as a center of ancient Russian art and architecture. For centuries it served as the religious capital of Russia and place of pilgrimage for the faithful of the Russian Orthodox creed. Within the old walled city we see the Troitse Sergiyevo Lavra, a working monastery where the Orthodox faith was tolerated by the State and kept alive even during the 'years of atheism'. EURO 47

Historical Panorama

To understand Russia, one needs to understand their history and events of the country's history that remained fixed in the soul of the nation. These are recalled by the awe inspiring memorial park and complex inaugurated for the 50th Anniversary of World War II. This is an emotional tribute to those who fell on the battle fronts of a war that left not one family of this vast nation complete. We continue with our visit to the Borodino Panorama Exhibition which brings to life the decisive events of 1812, accompanied by special sound effects reproducing the battle sounds of the 19th C. At the Novodevichy cemetery we see memorials to such great names as Krushchev, Chekhov, Mayakovsky, Prokoviev, Eisenstein, Gromyko and Raisa Gorbachova. It is a fascinating place with tombs to these heroes ranging from the most modest to sentimental to outlandish. EURO 40

Neva River Cruise

An evening cruise through the centre of Peter the Great's capital. We are offered champagne and vodka and entertainment is provided by singers, musicians and dancers. We also see the sights of this classical city. EURO 42

Yusupov Palace

A chance to visit this beautifully restored baroque palace, the former residence of the Yusupov family and the scene of Rasputin's murder. Here we will tour the palace including the room where the murder took place and hear the fascinating story of this Siberian monk and his influence on the Imperial Family. EURO 44

Catherine's Palace

In the little town of Tsarskoe Selo, now called Pushkin, is the most beautiful palace in all of Russia. It was the favourite palace of Catherine the Great, and our guided tour shows us the restored palace at its most glittering and golden best. EURO 42

Russian Ballet Performance

An opportunity to attend a performance of a Russian ballet at one of St Petersburg's traditional theatres. (Tickets subject to availability & prices vary according to the Ballet Company.) EURO 58-67

Experience a traditional Lithuanian meal of local specialties and enjoy a folklore show. Drinks included. EURO 55

KGB Museum Visit

Our guided tour includes the most important part of the museum which is the KGB prison that was established in the autumn of 1940 after Lithuania's occupation by the Soviet Union. Only at the beginning of 1960s, when anti-Soviet resistance was broken, were most of the cells used to house the archives but some were still used for the imprisonment of dissidents and fighters for human rights until the departure of the KGB in August 1991. Baltic Life of Yesteryear

An interesting visit to the national open-air museum outside Tallin. Here buildings from all over rural Estonia have been re-assembled in magnificent surroundings. We are guided through a couple of the farms to get an impression of life in the past. A light lunch is served in the historic restaurant building. Cost includes guide, lunch and entrance fee. Tallinn Evening Tour

An evening tour through the winding streets of Tallinn to one of the top restaurants of Estonia. Traditional Estii food is served in impressive historic surroundings with a glass of wine or beer included. EURO 46
