Enjoy your private car door to door transfer to your departure airport before your flight to Lima where a transfer is provided to your first hotel.

Day 2

Lima at leisure and sightseeing

This morning is at leisure. At lunchtime we meet Dr. Diez Canseco who takes us on a tour of his beautiful colonial home followed by aWelcome Reception and a delicious Be My Guest home-cooked lunch of Peruvian dishes. Then we experience the colonial splendour of Lima's Plaza San Martin, home to the Archbishop's Palace and stately Cathedral where we see Francisco Pizarro's tomb. We visit the Church of San Francisco and its catacombs before spending the evening at leisure. (FB)

Day 3

Lima - Cuzco - Sacred Valley

Today we fly to Cusco and visit Awanakancha to see native alpacas, llamas and vicunas and view weavers at work. We enjoy a box picnic lunch before exploring the vibrant handicraft market of Pisac.We visit a local chicheria to taste and learn about chicha, the favorite drink of the Andes before arriving at our mountain retreat in the heart of the Andes. Day 4

Valle Sagrado (FC)

Sacred Valley - Machu Picchu We board the Vistadome train and enjoy panoramic views of the valley and mountains as we climb towards Machu Picchu. Here we explore the stunning ruins of this oncegreat fortress and UNESCO World Heritage Site, visit the great Temple of the Sun, the House of the Priest, the Sacred Plaza and the intricately carved Intihuatana. Day 5

Machu Picchu - Ollantaytambo - Cusco (2)

We return to Machu Picchu and continue our exploration. Perhaps hike up to the Gate of the Sun for stunning views. We then travel back to the Sacred Valley and visit the Inca stronghold of Ollantaytambo before arriving at our charming boutique hotel, a beautifully renovated 18th century manor house just three blocks from Cusco's Plaza de Armas. Day 6

Cusco sightseeing and at leisure

This morning we meet local expert Peter Frost, an English author and archaeologist, and learn about the Inca settlement that he uncovered southwest of Machu Picchu. We explore the city and visit the colonial Cathedral and the Temple of Korikancha, the most important temple in the Inca Empire. The afternoon and evening are at leisure. (FB)

Day 7

Cusco sightseeing - Juliaca - Puno

We first explore the ruins of the fortress of Sacsayhuaman, Tambomachay and the Qenqo ceremonial centre before enjoying a Highlight Lunch at a local hacienda. We fly to Juliaca and transfer to the shores of Lake Titicaca and enjoy the breathtaking views of the lake at sunset. (FB, HL, D)

Day 8

Lake Titicaca excursion - Suasi Island

This morning we cruise beautiful Lake Titicaca and discover the floating islands constructed out of reeds by the Uros Indians. Next is Taquile Island for a private tour to meet local Quechua-speaking villagers, renowned for their handweaving techniques. We arrive at Suasi Island, the only privately owned island on Lake Titicaca. Our hotel is a unique eco-lodge with panoramic lake views. We enjoy a barbeque Highlight Lunch by the lake before a leisurely afternoon. Spot rare vicunas, paddle a canoe, go on a nature walk, or visit the massage room. After dinner, join an astronomy-trained guide for an explanation of the southern stars and Inca cosmology. Then relax with a nightcap around a blazing bonfire. Day 9

Suasi - Juliaca - Lima - Ica - Paracas (2)

We fly back to Lima and travel south to the Paracas Peninsula to explore the Regional Museum of Ica with its superb examples of Paracas weavings and textiles, well-preserved mummies and a scale model of the Nazca Lines. We then arrive at our resort on beautiful Paracas Beach. (FB, L, D)

Day 10

Naza Lines flight and at leisure

Today we take to the skies for an unforgettable experience as we soar high over the coastal desert to see the enigmatic Nazca Lines, gigantic geometric designs and pictures of animals created between 400 and 650 AD, viewable only from the air. Marvel at their stylised lines and wonder about the civilisation that created them. We then visit Bodega El Catador to learn about and taste the finest Pisco in the country. The rest of the day is at leisure at our resort. (FB)

Day 11

Paracas - Lima

We visit the uninhabited Ballestas Islands, a "mini- Galapagos" teeming with wildlife including fur seals, sea lions, dolphins, penguins and thousands of birds, including the elusive blue-footed booby. We then see another mysterious design in the earth - the majestic Candelabra. Back on dry land, we travel to Lima. Upon arrival, freshen up and join your travel companions for a Farewell Dinner with wine at the hotel. (FB, L, FD)

Day 12

Depart Lima

We take the complimentary transfer to Lima International airport for your return flight back to the UK. (FB)

Day 13 (Door to Door)

Arrive UK

On arrival at your UK airport, your driver will greet you and escort you to your waiting private car for your door to door transfer to your home.

    Very well organised (apart from a hitch which resulted in our Galapagos extension group not being met on arrival at Quito airport). Tour director and guides were brilliant!

    the local guides were excellent and the experience was probably one of the best holidays we have ever experienced everything was done to make our experience a trip of a lifetime.Meeting local people and hearing the history was so moving and it was better than any trips others had taken to the same place

    Excellent trip, very tiring but we saw a lot. Hotels and itinerary were excellent.

    Only disappointment was when we requested to go from Aberdeen to Amsterdam to Lima via KLM rather than Aberdeen to London to Madrid to Lima to save one flight we were told that Iberia was the preferred carrier. As it turned out we were the only three people from Aberdeen and a girl from Dublin did go via KLM. If we used Milestones again this could stop me using them if I couldn't say which carrier I wanted.

    If you have a preferred airline or routing that you would like to go we can definitely book that providing they have availability on the dates that you are travelling. We apologise the flights were not as you would have liked, but perhaps at the time of booking this may have been the only or best option available. We cannot see what the other clients have booked and why, so we are unable to comment on their flights. Flights from Dublin may also differ from those departing from Aberdeen, however, we have taken this on board and encourage you to advise your travel consultant of your preferred flights.
