Business and social hints

General:: Many executives speak a second language including German, English, French, Italian or Russian. Smoking is generally accepted but restricted in many public places and buildings, and on public transport. There are some restrictions on photography. The minimum drinking age is 18 years

Winters are cold with frequent snow and summers are warm increasing in temperature towards the south. Although summer is the wettest month there is plenty of fine, sunny weather especially in the south.

A reciprocal health agreement for medical treatment including hospital treatment and some dental treatment exists with the United Kingdom. In order to obtain treatment some proof of United Kingdom residence such as a UK passport will be required. NOTE: If you are a UK resident but NOT a UK national, you will need a certificate of insurance from HM Revenue & Customs Centre for Non-residents prior to travel. Recommended Immunisations: Tetanus, Hepatitis A <b>Consider:</b> Diphtheria, Hepatitis B, Rabies, Tuberculosis (TB)
Risks: Tick Borne Encephalitis (TBE): Ticks live in forests, woods, grasslands, riverside meadows, marshes, brushwood and shrublands. They usually live in the undergrowth, where they can easily get onto the clothes or skin of passers-by. Travellers intending to visit such areas are recommended to get vaccinated.
